Overview
Development Dynamics acts as a partner and connector, designing and strengthening collaboration frameworks that bring together public, private, philanthropic, and community actors. We focus on multi‑stakeholder strategies that create shared value, clarify roles, and align goals across organisations. Our work includes convening stakeholders, co‑designing joint initiatives, and formalising partnerships so that collaborations endure beyond single projects.
Highlights 2020 to 2024
East Africa Philanthropy Network Knowledge Partnership
In 2024 DD partnered with EAPN to support a research publication on family philanthropy traditions in East Africa. We co‑authored and edited the final report through a collaborative workflow, restructuring the narrative for clarity and ensuring the findings were accessible to diverse audiences. The report launched at EAPN’s 2024 summit and credited DD as an insights partner. Outcome: improved readability, timely publication, and a foundation for deeper collaboration, including exploration of a 4P/PPPP partnership framework and future convenings.
Public Private Philanthropic Partnership Models
DD helps conceptualise and formalise partnership frameworks that leverage each sector’s strengths. In a 2023 landscape analysis for the Executive Office of the President in Kenya, we mapped governance options, co‑funding mechanisms, and risk‑sharing approaches for collaborations between public agencies, private firms, philanthropies, and communities. These recommendations are informing an Investment Catalyst platform that channels resources to local initiatives. By combining practical consulting with think tank research, DD supports partnership ecosystems designed to last.
Cross Sector Convenings
We design and facilitate convenings that build trust and produce actionable commitments. For example, the Ubora Mashinani Learning Event co‑designed with KCDF and USAID in 2024 brought local NGOs, county governments, and private sector actors together for world café sessions and collaborative planning. Participants identified practical ways to support each other and produced follow‑up MOUs and action plans. Result: strengthened alignment, formalised collaboration, and partnerships that move from conversation to coordinated action.
