Development Dynamics

Governance & Strategy Development

Overview

In governance and strategy, Development Dynamics helps organisations define clear visions and strengthen institutional systems for greater efficiency and resilience. Our advisory work spans strategic planning facilitation, organisational redesign, and systems‑level alignment, with a strong emphasis on participatory processes that bring staff, stakeholders, and communities into the planning. We apply systems thinking to ensure strategies are coherent with the broader ecosystem, policy environments, funder expectations, and beneficiary needs so that roadmaps are practical, adaptive, and sustainable.

Highlights 2020 to 2024

Strengthening Africa CDC’s Capacity

In 2022 DD partnered with Amref Health Africa and GIZ to overhaul Africa CDC’s project management systems in response to COVID‑19 pressures. We carried out a high‑level training needs assessment with leadership and developed a bespoke project management toolkit to close gaps in planning, finance, and monitoring and evaluation. The engagement delivered targeted tools and training for Africa CDC teams and produced clearer project workflows, improved cross‑department coordination, and stronger institutional readiness for future health emergencies, an important operational upgrade for the African Union’s public health agency.

National Strategies and Resource Mobilization

We support governments and NGOs in strategy development and resource mobilisation, combining technical writing, donor alignment, and strategic foresight. Notable work includes facilitating Kenya’s HIV Prevention Acceleration Plan with the National AIDS Control Council and advising a Ministry of Health unit on a successful fundraising approach. By aligning strategic plans with health system priorities and future scenarios, we helped mobilise significant resources including contributing to a $144 million Global Fund grant with Amref as principal recipient and reinforced our clients’ leadership and credibility within their sectors.
