Learning Journeys
Overview
Learning Journeys are facilitated processes that help organisations and stakeholders reflect, experiment, and learn in real time. These curated experiences ranging from multi‑session workshops and immersive bootcamps to sustained learning‑agenda projects drive creative problem solving, cross‑sector exchange, and continuous improvement. Development Dynamics designs journeys that convene diverse participants (youth, community leaders, officials) and use methods such as design sprints, simulations, and peer learning to surface practical solutions and strengthen capacities.
Highlights 2020 to 2024
IDEA Initiative Bootcamp Planned Parenthood Global
What we did
Facilitated a three‑month innovation bootcamp in late 2022 that brought together 40 participants from tech, creative, and SRH sectors to co‑create solutions for reproductive health challenges.
Approach
Applied Human‑Centered Design through hands‑on co‑creation workshops and user‑centred prototyping.
Impact
Produced six viable SRH concepts that each secured $10,000 seed funding and incubation, while building innovation capacity and new collaborations between SRH advocates and tech/media professionals.
Zero Malaria County Dialogues Malaria No More UK
What we did
Led County Accelerator Dialogues in Kisumu, Kakamega, and Kilifi in 2023 to co‑design localized malaria awareness strategies with county officials, community influencers, youth, and media.
Approach
Used participatory convening and SBCC methods, including a simulation in an urban slum to explore non‑traditional malaria risks.
Impact
Engaged over 200 local leaders, produced county malaria action plans with co‑created messaging, and strengthened multi‑sector partnerships and community ownership of malaria control efforts.
USAID DGPS Learning Agenda
What we did
Served as learning partner for USAID’s Democracy Governance Peace and Security Learning Agenda in Kenya (2020–2021), supporting iterative learning to address systemic governance challenges.
Approach
Co‑created an evidence‑based learning framework, conducted political economy analyses, facilitated reflection workshops, and pilot‑tested adaptive solutions.
Impact
Generated actionable insights that informed program adjustments improving citizen feedback mechanisms and conflict‑sensitive outreach and established a model for evidence‑driven approaches to complex governance issues.
