Curriculum & Toolkit Development
Overview
Development Dynamics specialises in designing capacity‑building curricula and practical toolkits that equip organisations and communities with the knowledge and tools they need. We combine human‑centred design with subject‑matter expertise to turn complex content into engaging, accessible learning resources, online courses, manuals, and interactive guides carefully adapted to local contexts to ensure relevance and uptake.
Highlights 2020 to 2024
AU-ECOSOCC Peace & Security MOOC
In partnership with the African Union’s ECOSOCC, we are developing a Massive Open Online Course on Peace and Security to train thousands of civil society practitioners, journalists, and community leaders across Africa. The curriculum covers early warning systems, post‑conflict reconstruction and development, engagement with the AU Peace and Security Council, and a journalist’s toolkit for responsible reporting. Designed with interactive elements – videos, quizzes, and case studies and supported by a platform selection report, the MOOC is scheduled for launch in 2025 with a target of 10,000 enrollees and a 70% completion rate, representing a major expansion in accessible peacebuilding education.
Pan Africa ILGA (PAI) Organizational Toolkits
In 2024 we co‑created a suite of four capacity‑building toolkits with Pan Africa ILGA, covering Governance & Leadership, Program Management, Social Media Advocacy, and Finance & Resource Mobilization for LGBTIQ+ organisations. Using a participatory co‑creation process that included a five‑day workshop in Johannesburg and iterative feedback from regional stakeholders, we produced Draft Zero versions that reflect diverse perspectives and end‑user needs. The toolkits were designed to be practical and context‑sensitive, strengthening organisational resilience and funding readiness while fostering ownership among participants.
Health & Development Toolkits
We have developed specialised toolkits for public health settings that translate technical guidance into user‑friendly job aids, templates, checklists, and process guides. Examples include a project management toolkit tailored for health emergency response adopted by Africa CDC teams and simplified guides for community health workers produced with Amref to support their Communities of Practice platform. Across online courses and printed manuals, these resources are crafted to convert knowledge into practice and to build partner capacity for more effective, locally led delivery of health and development outcomes.
