The Focus: Establishing a strategic advisory practice in Kenya centered close to public systems, youth leadership, health equity, policy influence, and resource mobilization.
The Impact: Expanded the Journey4Life model across Southern Africa, structured youth engagement standards for Amref Y-ACT, drafted the national HIV Prevention Acceleration Plan, and developed universal health coverage investment frameworks for the Executive Office of the President.
The Focus: Navigating the operational shifts of COVID-19 through remote collaboration, virtual facilitation, and adaptive leadership while anchoring regional community infrastructure.
The Impact: Directed the global relaunch and foundational infrastructure of the HCDExchange community of practice, unlocked major Global Fund health systems financing for Amref, and supported the structural transition of the Advocacy Accelerator with the Hewlett Foundation.
The Focus: Expanding into a boutique development practice across Eastern, Southern, and Western Africa while centering field-shaping learning infrastructures and African voices.
The Impact: Facilitated continent-wide portfolio reviews for WASH and Public Health Emergencies, architected the structural hardware and software for Amref's internal Communities of Practice, and launched the #DDwithMaqC podcast platform for public systems thinking.
The Focus: Pausing to deeply evaluate institutional identity, movement building mechanics, and craft while testing a nascent Triple Play Approach.
The Impact: Executed a 14-country baseline study for Hivos, designed Planned Parenthood Global's BRAVE movement architecture from the Sahel to the Sahara, restructured project management for the Africa CDC, and co-designed the Mastercard Foundation Higher Education Health Collaborative.
The Focus: Maturing our multidisciplinary approach through intentional facilitation and regional governance systems capable of carrying growing organizations.
The Impact: Developed the Malkia Manifesto, engineered the "Rafikey" online platform for the Digital Health Coalition Kenya, piloted local malaria County Accelerator Workshops, and mapped urban development data utilization for the World Resources Institute across East Africa.
The Focus: Shifting from project delivery into true institutional infrastructure, marked by our official certification as a Certified B Corporation.
The Impact: Created shared governance models for the CATALYST coalition, embedded adaptive learning management into nine major USAID Kenya consortia, designed continental educational courses for the African Union ECOSOCC, and published the inaugural archive of African Luminaries.
The Focus: Navigating the spaces between sectors, actors, and global funding crises to help regional networks maintain strategic alignment and adaptive coherence.
The Impact: Served as Network Facilitator for Wellcome Trust's Centres for Exchange across Africa and India, launched a 3-year disability-inclusive early childhood development partnership with The Action Foundation, and evaluated Y+ Global's strategy against the international funding freeze.
The Focus: Activating our seventh year of systems stewardship by formalizing the specialized pathways of our three core action pillars.
The Impact: Deployed the 5P Framework with the East Africa Philanthropy Network, structured the East Africa Advancement Strategy for Aga Khan University, designed a continental certification pathway for social-emotional learning, and onboarded the inaugural DD Advisory Council.
The Focus: Committing to long-term African authorship and multigenerational stewardship across health, governance, philanthropy, and systems innovation.
The Impact: Fully scaling the shared infrastructure of the Insights Hub for sensing, the Innovation Lab for shared platforms, and the Investment Catalyst for robust capital pathways to build stronger institutions and healthier ecosystems.
The Path to Financial Independence
This transition is designed to radically evolve our self-funding architecture, going far beyond simple operational project delivery. As proven by the severe 2025 international funding freeze that created a heroic resilience deficit across regional civil society networks, relying entirely on unpredictable donor cycles is no longer sustainable. By productizing our frameworks, we insulate our mission and protect our long-term institutional health.
Revenue generated from licensing our proprietary ecosystem tools, regional academies, and institutional frameworks will structurally protect us from the unpredictability of shifting international donor funding. This enables us to maintain a permanent, stable operational capacity, guaranteeing that Development Dynamics remains a strong, independent voice for African authorship and regional development for decades to come.
